Altun Ha Archaeological Site:
Minimum 2 persons, includes entry fee US$40.00 per person
This is a half day tour that leaves anytime from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Altun Ha is located 31 miles north of Belize City and is the most extensively excavated ruin in Belize. It was a major ceremonial center during the Classic Period as well as a vital trade center that linked the Caribbean shores with other Maya centers in the interior.
Altun Ha consists of two main plazas with some thirteen temple and residential structures. Plaza A is a large grassy area, surrounded on all sides by pyramids. Plaza A is adjoined by Plaza B which has the largest structure on site, the Temple of the Masonry Altars, which rises 54 ft. above the plaza. This temple went through eight phases of construction and the round alter at the top is unique to this site. It was the focus of an unusual sacrificial ceremony in which copal (incense) and beautiful jade carvings were offered into a blazing fire.
Another feature of Altun Ha is the "Jade Head" that represents the Sun God, Kinich Ahau. This is the most significant find of Altun Ha, it is approximately six inches high and weights over nine pounds, and is to this day the largest carved jade object in the whole Maya area.
We invite you to go back in time with us to this magical place and imagine being a part of this beautiful and mighty city.

Belize Zoo:
Minimum 3 persons, includes entry fee US$50.00 per person
The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center was started in 1983, in an effort to provide a home for a collection of animals that were used in making a documentary film about tropical forests. It was quickly realized that Belizean visitors were unfamiliar with the different species of wildlife in the country; hence the zoo became a wildlife education center. Each year the zoo receives over 10,000 school children as part of its educational programs.
The Belize Zoo sits upon 29 acres of tropical savanna and is home to over 125 animals native to Belize. These animals were either orphaned, born at the zoo or rehabilitated.
